Did anyone catch Jeopardy last night?
Tuesday Tips - SKULL and BONES
Even when drawing the nude figure, it can be difficult to find angles and structure in the body. The skeleton, even when buried under muscle and fat, can be something to rely on because its structural shape doesn’t really bend, inflate or sag like muscles, fat or hair (or clothes). Try to spot and define those bones to define the body more accurately. For example, finding and utulizing the angles of the clavicles really does help to define the head’s relationship to the torso. Try it out.

“She did like Rose Quartz”? Please show me the quote you get this one from, because it does not exist in the canon material. What does exist, however, are plenty of lines from her demonizing the Crystal Gems–whom Rose was leader of–even though the Crystal Gems she was actively trying to kill didn’t even know she was in that mirror!
If she were such a prominent traitor to the Homeworld, why would she be so desperate to go back there? Just hope that they had forgotten about her? Even Pearl, in all her homesickness, knew better than to LAND there in Space Race!
The answer is pretty easy. She wasn’t against the Homeworld to begin with. She wasn’t afraid of them in The Message. She said everything was so advanced, she couldn’t understand it–not that she was afraid of it. I am not denying she shows a glimmer of hope with feeling indebted to Steven, but she goes about trying to repay that debt in a completely selfish and wrong way!
She didn’t tell the Homeworld about Steven, no. But she obviously told them about his friends, not giving a damn how that would hurt him. She could have lied about them, too, but even you seem to agree she is fine with betraying her “friend” Steven’s guardians, even though they were innocent of her imprisonment! She would have watched dry-eyed on that beach as they were captured or killed, if Steven hadn’t been there.
Hell, she had her back to HIM as the laser was being aimed. Jasper didn’t have her by the hand, that’s all her right there.

“Oh well.”
She tried to help him, yes. But when it didn’t go her way, she was cutting her losses.
This mission would see the Kindergarten restarted, which would destroy everything Steven loves, his entire WORLD, but she did not care about that. Her concern with Steven begins and ends with his physical well-being alone….but ONLY if it doesn’t interfere with her own well-being.
This doesn’t even begin to touch on Ocean Gem. Remember how she just took off, without an apology for what she did or an offer to help repair the damage, since she could now leave at any time? Remember how she let Steven almost fall to his death on top of almost drowning him, almost killing his friends, and almost killing his father?
That thoughtlessness, selfishness and apathy are her flaws, and they are NOT excused by her time in that mirror. If she were the wholly benign woobie some people make her out to be, she would have made an effort to fix her mistakes, not create more of them. She would not have left Steven in his times of great need, but every time, she has. Including Malachite, which was completely unnecessary to “protect” him. Malachite was spiteful, becoming the very thing she condemned the Crystal Gems of being.
Her apathy in the ship was not a “good point”. Behaving for Yellow Diamond was not going to save Steven’s PLANET. But again: Lapis only cares about Steven as long as her own best interests are secure. If he’s crying, if he’s lost everything dear to him, aw, but who cares, really? She paid him back!
As for her being in danger of destabilization or death for stopping the laser:
Yeah

Lapis Lazuli is so

helpless

fragile

even with a cracked Gem

man

she wouldn’t

stand a chance

Jasper couldn’t even handle Garnet without the Gem Destabilizer. And you’d think in a life or death situation for a friend, Lapis might decide she sort of would have to TRY to help. People are willing to claim “oh, she totally doomed herself to an eternity of imprisonment for Steven, what a valorous martyr”, yet THIS would be too risky? Helping him on the ship would be too risky?
No.
The only thing holding her back is she didn’t want to rock the boat for her own sake. She wanted to return to Homeworld after her role in the mission was over. She gave Steven the warning, tried to “help” him (yeah man, don’t fight, who cares about your family and friends, just let them destroy your world, I’M not gonna help, I’m hoping to get off easy), and once that effort of conscience failed, he was on his own. She abandoned him. Even HE was disappointed in her.
Some people in the fandom absolutely love to woobify Lapis and insist she did nothing wrong, rob her of all her agency with a pat on the head and a “you didn’t know what you were doing”, but seriously. She did plenty wrong and outright disturbing just in the current canon alone. This “Lapis Defense Squad Asemble!” thing needs more substance than “she’s so cute in her little sun dress and was a prisoner, so we’ll forgive her for anything she does"–that argument is the only thing that’s really weak about her!
Lapis Lazuli is a tragic but very flawed character, and that is what makes her so interesting! It doesn’t mean you can’t still like her, I still do! And I hope in the future, “she even learns how to love”. She just doesn’t now.
im sorry but if roxy wasnt ur fave alpha kid,, like,,,,
