Dear Disney,
Thank you for Ralph. Honestly and truly, thank you. Growing up, I’ve always been the largest guy around, tall and heavy. It’s somewhat hard meeting/being around complete strangers, because they often just see you as the big scruffy mean-looking guy and expect the worse. Never do they expect me to hold a door open for them, move aside, give up my seat on the bus/subway to others in more need of a seat. Yes, I’ve been made fun of because of my appearance, in jokingly and hurtful ways. But I know what they see and perceive is not who I am. I’m not a “badguy”, I’m a good-guy, and I’m glad that audiences everywhere will be able to enjoy Ralph for him.
Recently, I posted up a gif of my Halloween Costume. Which received crazy amounts of love, I had complete strangers calling me “beautiful.” And it was sorta amazing. Never have I had that sort of thing happen, only my close loved ones have ever said nice things like that about me. It’s nice to have a character out there who isn’t prince charming.Ralph is different, misunderstood, but all in all a sweet person. He really is a hero to me. Yes I know that Beast exists, except I’ve never been a person of a mean nature and and at the end of the day I know I will not change form to reveal a super handsome prince.
But at the end of the day, I am me, and that’s ok, there’s no one I’d rather be than me.
